Switzerland and China

Friday, 2. June 2023

In the context of the public discussion surrounding our planned Innovation Center in Rapperswil, a member of the St.Gallen cantonal parliament submitted questions to the canton of St.Gallen.

We are pleased to share that the canton has promptly released a comprehensive and objective response to this intense discussion. The assessment of the canton emphasizes that severing economic ties with China would be both unrealistic and unhelpful. Nevertheless, it also emphasizes the importance of acknowledging potential dangers and risks. As stated by the canton:

"China currently stands as Switzerland's third-largest trading partner. To further capitalize on and expand this potential, it is crucial to establish specific platforms through which Swiss companies can acquire the necessary expertise to navigate the Chinese system and forge valuable connections to access new markets."

This is precisely the role our Innovation Center in Rapperswil is designed to fill by serving as a  professional platform and a trustworthy and experienced partner in Switzerland and China as well as Asia at large.

The canton's detailed response is publicly available on the following Link (in German only).
